Pro tip: did you know that your local Virginia Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control has a special order catalog?

An alcohol control thing allows you to order by the bottle... interesting.

I lived in VA for many years, and it makes me wonder how many other states still control the sale of liquor through state stores.

We used to live in North Carolina, and they did...at least as of 2011.

Found a list:
Alabama, Idaho, Michigan, Mississippi, Montana, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Utah, Vermont, Virginia , Washington, West Virginia
These aren't really control states, since all states control the sale of liquor. Rather, they are monopoly states, where the state is the sole proprietor of liquor.

Yup. First time I saw liquor in a 7-11 in AZ I was floored.
